Which Alarm Grade Does Your Business Need?
Commercial intruder alarm systems are graded according to your risk level and insurance requirements. The grade your insurer specifies determines the level of detection, tamper protection and monitoring your system needs to have in place. Getting this right is essential, if your system isn’t graded correctly, a break-in claim could be refused. We assess your premises and insurance requirements before recommending anything, so you always get the right grade for your situation.

Frequently asked questions about commercial burglar alarms in Hull
Your insurer may require it. Many business insurance policies specify that intruder alarms must be installed and maintained by an NSI or SSAIB accredited company, particularly for Grade 2 systems and above. If your policy has this condition and your installer is not accredited, a break-in claim could be refused. Cobra Fire and Security is SSAIB accredited, so your system will satisfy insurer requirements from day one.
The grade required depends on your insurance policy, the value of assets on site and your overall risk profile. Grade 2 is the most commonly specified grade for commercial premises and will satisfy the majority of business insurance requirements. We carry out a site survey and review your insurance requirements before recommending anything, so you get the right grade without overspending.
Wired systems hardwire every detector back to the control panel. They are more reliable long term and do not require battery changes, making them the preferred choice for permanent commercial premises. Wireless systems use radio frequency communication between devices, making them faster to install and better suited to rented premises, listed buildings or anywhere where running cables would be disruptive. Both types can be graded to meet insurer requirements and are fully compliant for commercial use.
